Les is detail oriented, and he always has been. Throughout early life and into college engineering degrees, Les learned to approach things logically and analytically. Even to the point of being accused of having a spreadsheet to track all his spreadsheets. Growing up, Les learned the biggest reward is in helping others and community. This was instilled in him by his parents who taught him to care for all persons unconditionally. In government, it's all about the details.

Building business, supporting community. Les has operated a local small business since 1991. During that time, his passion for our local community launched his efforts to give something back to Winchester and citizens. Les has devoted a lot of time and resources in local government and with many nonprofit organizations. His efforts have helped many community citizens through sponsorships and volunteering with local charities and organizations.

Family focused, giving back. After Les and Sabra started a family, he spent a lot of time helping and inspiring our local youth by teaching Sunday school, speaking to local school classes, Toys for Tots, Boy Scouts, Shenandoah University Athletic Association, Exchange Club (prevention of child abuse), Child Advocacy Center (treatment of child abuse) and as a Winchester City Councilor focusing on education and job skill training.

Veach is the picture of community engagement. Les is currently a member of Kiwanis Club and Winchester Rotary Club, Chair of an Apple Blossom committee, and serves as a Board member on Winchester Area Transitional Thermal Shelter (WATTS), Child Advocacy Center, and Winchester Rescue Mission.

On decisions, Les uses the metrics of “What moral and ethical option is best for the greater good of the public, for
the long term.”
By this, he can truly do the best for Winchester citizens. Les believes leadership has a responsibility beyond ourselves and to work for what's best for the citizens that we represent.

ISSUES THAT NEED ATTENTION:
- Managing growth for the long term while upkeeping existing infrastructure
- Smart, controlled need based budget/spending for reduced fees/taxes
- City communication/transparency and opportunity for citizen participation.
- Support for teachers for improved education/job skill learning
